SAN JUAN, PR. August 23, 2022 – Ford Puerto Rico announces the launch of Telematics, an exclusive service for commercial clients that provides key information about vehicles, with the purpose of optimizing their fleet operations. Telematics is the first service available in Puerto Rico as part of Ford Pro™, Ford’s global division dedicated to providing support and solutions to business customers of all sizes and types of industries.
Ford Pro was created to redefine the commercial vehicle services market and maximize Ford’s leadership in that segment. Ford Pro is an essential part of the Ford+ strategic plan to create value and promote company growth.
The first Ford Pro service on the Island, Telematics, is designed to help fleet managers of companies of all kinds to operate more efficiently. The basic service, Telematics Essential, provides free access to the web application that provides essential data for each vehicle such as odometer reading, diagnostic warnings, maintenance alerts, engine status and oil level. All the information is displayed on a ‘dashboard’ that easily shows the status of the fleet in real time, without having to wait for reports from the drivers. Basic service is available to all business customers who own regular combustion vehicles with built-in modems.
For customers interested in accessing more advanced capabilities, they can subscribe to Ford Pro Telematics for a $20 monthly fee, which includes all the information of the Essential plan, plus features such as vehicle safety, GPS tracking, driver behaviors, fuel use, among others. In addition, it provides a mobile application for drivers. One of its benefits is that it works on vehicles of other brands that belong to the fleet and that are equipped with a ‘plug-in device (PID)’.
